Scene - Overview
When you open a scene, you have access to various menus and functions that allow you to view, edit and share your 3D scene.
Below is an overview of the most important areas.

- Scene selection
Use the drop-down menu at the top left to switch between Organisation, Project and Scene.
This allows you to keep track of multiple projects.
For more information, see the article: HEGIAS Webportal - Overview
- Library
The Library contains all available objects and materials that you can insert into your scene.
You can filter by category, search specifically and drag and drop elements into your scene.
An article on the library will follow shortly.
- Scene functions
In addition to the editor, you will find additional tabs with functions related to the scene:
- Files in the scene: shows all files used and allows you to upload new files.
- Location: georeference your scene to take into account the real environment, sun path and sightlines. See also: Navigator: Location
- Share: create invitation links to share the scene with other users. See also: Share Scene via Share-Link
- Scene editing
- Save: permanently saves your current changes.
- Screenshot: creates an image of your current view, e.g. as a cover image for the project.
- Reset scene: discards all changes since opening and restores the original state.
- Navigation modes
The various navigation modes help you move around your scene flexibly:
- Walk mode: movement from a first-person perspective at ground level.
- Model view: shows the entire model from an overview perspective.
- Top view: allows you to view the scene from above – similar to a floor plan. Use right-click to move the view. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out.
- Object editing
Object editing provides you with precise tools to adjust objects in your scene:
- Move, rotate, scale: change the position, orientation and size of objects.
- Copy, delete, replace: duplicate or replace objects directly in the scene.
- Magnet function: automatically align objects to surfaces or edges.
- Distance measurement: measure distances between objects and architecture.
- Apply standard height: set selected objects to their stored standard height.
For more information, see the article:
- Material editing
Activate material editing to edit surface materials in your scene.
You can select a surface and then move the applied material.
For more information, see the article: Surface Material and Surface Editing
- Scene information
In this area, you will find additional tools and information about the scene:
- Details: edit the name, description and tags of the scene. Here you can view attachments imported with the Roomscanner.
- Navigator: open your scene in HEGIAS.navigator to view it directly in your browser as a real-time rendering. See also: Navigator: Introduction & Overview
- Issue management: manage BIMcollab issues directly in the scene and synchronise them with the cloud. See also: Set up BIMcollab for BCF Issues Management
- Viewpoints
With viewpoints, you can jump to predefined positions within the scene.
Each viewpoint saves the position, viewing direction and zoom level – ideal for presentations or guided tours.
Viewpoints can be created in Creating Viewpoints with HEGIAS.editor (Webview) and in Creating Viewpoints with HEGIAS.simultor (VR Headset).
