Floorplanner - Draw your own floorplans

With the HEGIAS Floorplanner you can draw your own floor plans and create scenes in your projects.

The following article provides an overview of all the functions that the Floorplanner offers for creating a simple scene.

1. Floor Plan Actions

At the top of the sidebar there are three actions for the floor plan:

  • New: Creates a new, empty floor plan.
  • Open: Opens a previously saved floor plan.
  • Save: Saves the current floor plan as a file.

2. View

Use the 2D and 3D buttons to switch between the two-dimensional

floor plan view and the three-dimensional preview.

3. Editing Modes

Below are the main tools for creating and editing the floor plan:

  • Select: Activates the selection mode to select and move walls, rooms, doors or windows.
  • Draw Walls: Allows you to draw new walls and room structures.
  • Add Door: Inserts a door into an existing wall.
  • Add Window: Inserts a window into an existing wall.

The currently active mode is highlighted in colour.

4. Precision Options

These settings affect the behaviour when drawing and moving elements:

  • Snap to grid (10 cm): Objects snap automatically to the grid. The grid size can be adjusted using the slider.
  • Straight move only: Restricts movement to horizontal or vertical directions to make precise alignment easier.
  • Show exterior dimensions: Displays the exterior dimensions of walls in the workspace.

5. Workspace

The large area in the centre shows the workspace:

  • Rooms are highlighted in colour and labelled with their name and area (m²).
  • Dimension indicators appear along the walls – both when drawing and for existing walls.
  • Black nodes mark corners and connection points that can be edited in

Select mode.

6. Detail Panel

When you select an element in Select mode, a context-sensitive panel appears on the right with the relevant properties and actions.

Wall selected

  • Exterior wall length (cm) / Interior wall length (cm): Exterior and interior dimensions of the wall.
  • Wall thickness (cm): Thickness of the wall.
  • Delete wall: Deletes the selected wall.

Door selected

  • Door width (cm) / Door height (cm): Dimensions of the door.
  • Show door leaf: Shows or hides the door leaf in the 2D view.
  • Open to other side: Reverses the opening direction of the door.
  • Hinge side: Sets the hinge side – left, right, or both.
  • Delete door: Deletes the selected door.

Window selected

  • Window width (cm) / Window height (cm): Dimensions of the window.
  • Sill height (cm): Height of the window sill above finished floor level.
  • Delete window: Deletes the selected window.

Room selected

  • Room name: Freely editable name of the room.
  • Room type: Dropdown to select the room type (e.g. Bathroom, Living room, Office).

The room name is automatically updated when the room type is changed.

7. Blueprint

In the Floor Plan Template section, a blueprint image can be loaded as a reference into the workspace.

An existing floor plan can then be traced directly – for a faster and more precise start to new projects.

The following options are available:

  • Transparency: Slider to adjust the opacity of the template image.
  • Visibility: Shows or hides the template without removing it.
  • Move: Activates the move mode for the template in the workspace.
  • Delete: Removes the template from the floor plan.
