Plan-Mode - Drawing Floorplans

With the Plan-Mode of the HEGIAS.configurator, you can draw floorplans yourself and thereby create scenes in your projects.
The following article gives you an overview of all the functions the Plan-Mode offers for creating a simple scene.

In the Plan-Mode, the scene is displayed in a 3D top-down view. All functions are located in the left sidebar.

1. Tools

The Tools section contains the central tools for creating and adjusting the floorplan:

• Select: Activates selection mode to select and move walls, rooms, doors or windows.
• Draw walls: Enables drawing new walls or room structures.
• Add door: Inserts a door into an existing wall.
• Add window: Inserts a window into an existing wall.

The currently active mode is highlighted in colour.

2. Grid

These settings affect the behaviour when drawing and moving:

• Snap to grid (10cm): Objects snap automatically to the grid. The grid size can be adjusted using the 1, 10, 50 and 100 buttons.
• Snap angle (5°): Restricts rotation to 5° increments for precise alignment.
• Move walls straight only: Restricts dragging to horizontal or vertical directions to make exact alignments easier.

3. Dimensions

• Show external measures: Displays the external dimensions of the walls in the workspace.

4. Workspace

The large area in the centre shows the workspace:

• Rooms are labelled with a name and area (m²).
• Dimensions appear along the walls – both while drawing and for existing walls.
• Purple nodes mark corners and connection points, which can be edited in Select mode.

Above the workspace are the actions to save the floorplan as well as undo and redo.

5. Detail Panel

When you select an element in Select mode, a context-sensitive panel with the relevant properties and actions appears in the top right of the workspace.

Wall selected

• External wall length (cm) / Internal wall length (cm): External and internal length of the wall.
• Wall thickness (cm): Thickness of the wall.
• Split wall: Splits the wall by adding a new corner point in the middle.
• Delete wall: Deletes the selected wall.

Door selected

• Door width (cm) / Door height (cm): Dimensions of the door.
• Show door leaf: Shows or hides the door leaf. If the option is deactivated, the door leaf is also removed in the 3D model.
• Open to other side: Reverses the opening direction of the door.
• Hinge side: Sets the hinge side – left, right or both sides.
• Delete door: Deletes the selected door.

Window selected

• Window width (cm) / Window height (cm): Dimensions of the window.
• Sill height (cm): Height of the windowsill above the finished floor.
• Delete window: Deletes the selected window.

Room selected

• Room name: Freely editable name of the room.
• Room type: Dropdown to select the room type (e.g. bathroom, living room, office).

The room name is updated automatically when the room type is changed.

6. Reference Image

In the Reference Image section, a reference image can be loaded into the workspace. The existing floorplan can be traced directly from it – for a faster and more precise start on new projects.

The Insert reference image button loads an image. The following options are then available:

• Transparency: Slider to adjust the opacity of the reference image.
• Visibility: Shows or hides the reference without removing it.
• Move: Activates move mode for the reference in the workspace.
• Delete: Removes the reference from the floorplan.

7. Templates

In the Templates section, floorplans can be opened and saved:

• Open: Opens the Choose template dialog to select a floorplan template.
• Save: Saves the current floorplan as a template in your profile.

The Choose template dialog contains three tabs:

• Templates: Predefined floorplan shapes (e.g. rectangle, L-shape, pentagon, T-shape) as well as the Empty option for an empty floorplan.
• Other floorplans in this project: All floorplans from the active project are made available for selection automatically.
• My saved floorplans: The templates saved in your profile. Every user can save their own templates and reuse them at any time.

Create floorplan applies the selected template, Cancel closes the dialog.

8. Edit Interior

The Edit Interior button switches from the Plan-Mode to interior design, where you furnish the drawn scene with objects and materials.
