In the following section you will learn how to import your Blender model into HEGIAS VR.

HEGIAS VR supports the vendor-independent BIM format and the most widely used 3D CAD formats for architectural, building and construction plans. A complete list of supported file formats can be found here: Supported Formats

This article shows our recommended settings for GLB and FBX export from Blender 2.93. These settings serve as an example and may vary from project to project. You can learn how to optimally prepare your 3D model for upload here: Manually optimize your model

GLB Export

GLB is ideal for already materialized 3D models. In order for the materials to be displayed correctly in HEGIAS, they must be exported according to the glTF 2.0 standard. Detailed instructions can be found here: glTF 2.0

Select all objects you want to export
Open the GLB export dialog under File > Export > glTF 2.0.

Use the format glTF Binary (.glb), Limit to Selected Objects and +Y Up.
Complete the export with the Export glTF 2.0 button

The exported GLB file is now available for Import into HEGIAS VR.

FBX Export

FBX is best used for exportin non-materialized 3D models. FBX files are slightly smaller compared to GLB files.
Select all objects you want to export
Open the FBX export dialog under File > Export > FBX.
Select Limit to** Selected Objects**, Object Types: Meshes and -Z Forward.
Optional: if you want to export material textures separately, select Path Mode: Copy.
Complete the export with the button Export FBX.

The exported FBX file is now available for Import into HEGIAS VR.
