For a smooth rendering and a positive experience in immersive virtual reality, the optimization of the geometry in a VR scene is crucial. Due to the limitations of the hardware, it is currently not yet possible to walk through arbitrarily large and complex models in VR. The maximum file size that you can import with an upload to HEGIAS VR also depends on your subscription level.

The following tips may help you "shrink" your file if it is too large (list not exhaustive):

Upload separate floors one at a time
If your building has multiple floors, you can upload them to HEGIAS one at a time.
Export the floors one by one from your CAD or split an existing IFC model into the different floors.

Upload the floors one by one to HEGIAS VR. Use the + - symbol under "Files in scene" to upload multiple files to the same scene.

Upload technical plans separately
If, in addition to your building, you also want to display pipes or technical installations, it is best to upload these models separately.
Upload the architecture to HEGIAS VR. Use the standard import settings.

Add the technical plans to your scene via the + - symbol under "Files in scene". Use the following settings under the Advanced import options for this.

Remove furniture and appliances
Remove furniture and appliances such as plumbing fixtures or built-in cabinets from your 3D model. Afterwards you can add the objects again via "Files in scene" or you can furnish the building with dynamic objects from your HEGIAS library.

Manual optimization of geometry
Use a 3D based modeling software such as Blender to manually optimize your model before uploading. The following article explains relevant points for this: Manually optimize your model
