# RoomScanner - Overview

With the **HEGIAS RoomScanner app**, you can scan rooms directly with your smartphone and automatically create a **2D floor plan** or a **3D model**.
The app guides you step by step through the entire scanning process.

1. **Getting started**

* **Start the app**
Open the HEGIAS RoomScanner app on your iPhone.
On the home screen, you can tap **Start scan** to scan a new room.
Alternatively, you can access **Partner Login** or **Settings** in the menu at the top right.

* **Log in (optional)**
You can log in with your HEGIAS account via the **Partner Login** menu item.
If you do not yet have an account, select **Create account** to register.

2. **Scan room**

* **Start scan**
Tap **Start scan** to begin the scanning process.
Follow the instructions on the screen and move slowly through the room.

* **Save scan**
Once the scan is complete, you can give your scan a name (e.g. *Ground floor kitchen-diner*).
The scan is automatically saved in **Scan history**.

* **View scan history**
Use the **Scan history** button on the home screen to find all saved scans with the date and time.
Tap on an entry to view details or edit the scan.


3. **Edit and export scan**

When you open a scan, the following functions are available:
* **3D and 2D view**
Switch between the **3D view** and the **2D floor plan**.

* **Add notes**
Under *Notes*, you can save comments or notes about the room.
The **room area** and **room height** are also automatically displayed in this area.

* **Add images**
Under *Images*, you can add photos of the room.
These are saved together with the scan.

* **PDF file**
Download a **PDF** of the **2D floor plan** to your mobile phone.

* **Select project and organisation**
Select the **project** and **organisation** to which the scan should belong.

* **Export**
Tap **Export** to **export** the **scanned 3D model**.

* **Upload to HEGIAS**
You can upload the scan directly to HEGIAS via **Upload**.
The scan is then uploaded as a scene to the selected project in the HEGIAS platform.

4. **Settings**

In the **Settings** section, you can:
* Set the **default organisation** and **default project**
* Load a **demo scene** of the **Navigator**
* **Contact support** at: [support@hegias.com](mailto:support@hegias.com)
* Open the **Terms of Use**, **Privacy Policy** and the **HEGIAS website**
* Log out via **Log out**
